Over the decades, it became softer and softer, earning, at one point, the nickname “Mallfinder.” After spending a week in the new-for-2023 Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek, it’s apparent to me that the Pathfinder has some of its off-road mojo back. When the original Nissan Pathfinder came on the scene at the cusp of the modern SUV era, it was a rugged body-on-frame vehicle with serious off-road capability.
